I'm Back Home!

I left for Newark on Tuesday. I got to the airport and our plane was delayed due to mechanical issues. Then they ended up getting us another plane so we flew out a couple hours later than expected. I didn't get very much sleep that night.

At 5 am I was up and ready for my interview anxiously waiting. Finally 9 am rolled around and we met the recruiting team. I won't go into too many details about the interview because I'm not sure United wants that information public. But I think it went really well. I will find out either way in 5 days so now I am playing the waiting game.

I'm going to Newark!

The Skywest group interview was okay. I don't think they would be a good fit for my family. That's okay though, it works for some people but it just isn't what I am looking for at this point. In other news I am headed to Newark next week!!!! I completed my Hireview interview on Wednesday night and on Thursday I got the email inviting me for a face to face interview with United. I also received an email from Delta to do a Hireview.

I was not pleased with my Hireview for United. I thought for sure that I completely crashed and burned. I guess they saw something in me that I didn't because the very next day I got the email! When I saw the email, I thought for sure it was the thanks, but no thanks message. I'll admit I teared up a little as I read it. I have seen on Indeed that it sometimes takes up to a week for some candidates so I am hoping that it is a good sign. I am nervous as can be for my interview. I guess I'll update again next week.

Preparing for the Interview

I love the internet. I can't imagine what it was like going to a job interview before resources such as Glassdoor and Indeed forums. If you are in the process of trying to become a flight attendant I highly recommend that you utilize these wonderful resources. Reading about other people's interview experiences was incredibly helpful with getting on at my first job as a flight attendant for AirTran.

As I prepare for my upcoming interviews I have been reading about the interview processes for both companies and have been able to get a general timeline of the entire process along with a few of the questions I may be asked. This is wonderful information because I can go in prepared with a general idea of what I want to say. It also gives me an idea on where I stand with the company based on what happens after my interviews. I know that if I do not get called for a face to face with Skywest my journey with them will end that day until I qualify to apply again.

So at this point I am perfecting my resume, practicing interview questions, and I have started studying airport codes because it is never to early to start preparing for training.

My Return to the Friendly Skies

It has been a long time... a really long time. Full of life. In the past six years so much has changed. I am now a mother to three. Two of my children are autistic. Life has thrown me a lot of curve balls. I have toyed with the idea of trying to go back to work on again off again almost ever since I left. I have a lot of mommy guilt because of my situation with my children but I have come to the conclusion that it is doable and I can and will make it work. The thought of being away from them a lot kills me but I also know that if I don't do it now I never will. I've started thinking about all of the fun adventures that our family can have together and that gives me something to look forward to.

So far I have two prospects but I have only begun my job hunt. I have a cattle call/group interview/potential face to face on Thursday with Skywest Airlines and I have a Hireview interview for United due by the end of the week. Depending on how the Hireview goes I could potentially be headed for a face to face interview pretty quickly from what I have seen online. United isn't wasting anytime, and that seems about right because I had a flight scheduled three years ago for a face to face and it was cancelled due to them meeting their quota before my trip.

So I have been spending the week preparing myself. Trying to find the perfect outfit. Practicing interview questions. Doing my hair and make up... I'm a bit out of practice from being a stay at home mom....

So I guess wish me luck and I'll update on Thursday!
